Students Exploring Career Opportunities (SECO) is a large-scale career expo for more than 4,000 tenth-grade students in central Louisiana.  The event introduces students from nine public school districts to career possibilities through interacting with current professionals, recruiters, and volunteers from various organizations across the region.

“Today is all about getting these kids to learn about all the different industries we have in the area and to get them motivated for the future,” says "The Jobinator," one of the event volunteers and SECO 2022 emcee.

Multiple business units from the Crest Family of Companies compiled simulations and hands-on activities for the students. From leading participants in a virtual reality welding simulation to answering various questions and virtually walking students through a 3D model of a substation, our team of experts was there to interact with the teens and help guide them on their career journeys.

“These students need this type of hands-on approach to career discovery because this early exposure to a career path helps them lay the foundation for future success,” says Wes Mouk, Talent Sourcing Manager at Crest Operations.
