Glass Act Recycling hosts the drive each year in an effort to engage students, educators, and parents with local sustainability activities. With partners like Crest Industries, Keep Louisiana Beautiful, and the Rapides Parish School Board (RPSB), the program has grown over the past three years.

2025 School Winners:

The event coincides with Earth Day and Louisiana’s LOVE THE BOOT WEEK. RPSB students, faculty, and staff were encouraged to participate by collecting their food-grade glass containers during the two weeks leading up to the statewide celebration. Volunteers from local schools, organizations and businesses collected, weighed, and tallied the contributions from each school.

“Through the efforts of students, faculty, parents, and community members the glass drive saved just over two tons of glass from entering local landfills – that’s incredible,” says Glass Act founder Annie Collins.

“Sustainability is a group effort,” says Sarah LaBorde, Crest Industries Communications and Sustainability Manager, “Everyone can have an individual impact, but when we come together, the possibilities are limitless.”
